This is basically a North Indian dish, which I always love to cook and serve. This can be served along with Indian Bread or roti or with White rice.
We South Indians adopted it and made it according to our taste. Its very easy to prepare just takes 30mins to prepare.
Ingredients:
- Chick peas or Kondai Kadalai - 100gm
- Onions - 4
- Ripe Tomatoes - 5
- Red Chili powder -1 Tbsp
- Chana Masala - 2Tbsp
- Ginger Garlic paste - 2Tbsp
- Green Chillies - 3
- Coriander leaves for Garnishing.
- Cinnamon - 1inch
- Fennel seeds - 1Tsp
- Cloves -1
- Dry Bay leaves - 1
- Soak the chick peas in water for about 8hrs or overnight
- Cook the chick peas and mash it coarsely if necessary.
- Heat oil in a skillet and add cinnamon, fennel seeds, cloves and bay leaf and wait till you get the aroma.
- Add finely chopped Onions and green chilies, saute it for about 2mins.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute it for another 1min.
- Add finely chopped tomatoes and fry it for 2mins to make it tender.
- Add chana masala and red chili powder and saute it for 1min.
- Add the mashed chick peas with enough water. Cook it for about 3mins.
- Garnish it with coriander leaves and chopped Onions.
- Serve it with Roti or Naan
